About Us

MixTree Languages is a non-profit English language school in the heart of Amsterdam that offers high-quality courses in a friendly and multicultural community.

Since 2015, we have been helping adults from all over the world improve and expand their English by offering courses for all levels at an affordable price. We understand the importance of creating a positive and safe learning environment for students to confidently practise their speaking in small groups. These include Morning, Intensive, Evening, and Business group courses and Private lessons and In-company courses.

Our Approach

Our English courses are expertly designed using our “Activate Your English” approach. This helps language learners to improve faster by focusing on speaking. Students practise using grammar and vocabulary in real-life situations, which makes learning easier and more effective.

Our teaching is based on the theories of social learning. This means that we believe language is learnt not only by acquiring vocabulary and grammar, but by being able to communicate and share ideas, experiences, and emotions and also to learn from others.

We also recognise that every student is on their own unique language-learning journey. That’s why we begin with a personalised level check to understand their needs, wants, and goals. Our teachers then tailor the learning experience throughout the course to ensure progress.

Our Teachers

Our courses are taught by highly-qualified and experienced native or bilingual English teachers, who are able to support students to step outside of their comfort zone by making them feel safe to experiment and try new things. They facilitate conversation, group interaction and offer continuous feedback.

We have chosen them based on their positive energy and ability to motivate others. They all bring diverse backgrounds and experiences from years of working internationally with students from different countries.

More Than Just Classes

At MixTree Languages, you’re part of a vibrant and welcoming community. Each course has a dedicated WhatsApp group where you can ask questions, connect with classmates, and arrange meetups. Our canteen is a great space to study, relax with friends, and play games. You can also borrow English books to support your learning.

Every second Tuesday, we host a Language Exchange Meetup at locations in the centre of Amsterdam, giving you the chance to practice your English in a fun, social setting and boost your fluency. We also keep you informed about events across the city and provide support to help you navigate life in Amsterdam.

❤️ This message is not just for rating Mixtree, it is an invitation to everyone who really wants to learn the language should contact with wonderful team!I searched for dozens of educational institutions. When I met Miss Kathleen for only half an hour, she supported me a lot.I started with private lessons with her, and I registered for a group course. (I don’t want to talk about the support they gave me because I would not finish if I started writing. It was a lot.) I did not speak English before because I was afraid to make a mistake.Since September to now, I finished B1 with Miss Clare group and now I will finish B2. (With private lessons with Miss Kathleen), I never believed myself, I had a good knowledge of English, but I only discovered it through my Mixtree teachers.The lessons are excellent in coordination, management and professional communication, If the rating was 100 stars, I would have given it with confidence.. I am not just a student, I am very grateful to them because they did a great thing to me, and I developed my work, I now hold meetings with official bodies in the English language (I am not a professional at speaking yet, but I started without fear).They are very dedicated, I don't see them working just for the sake of working, they love what they do❤️When I master the language well and find the time, I will not hesitate to help them as a volunteer to teach their students.Thank you wonderful team❤️
